Janathon Day 10

I totally spaced it yesterday and didn't post for Janathon.  It was a long day and I didn't get home until 8:00pm and was just exhausted.  Unfortunately, I did not get a work out in for Janathon day 9.  I know that I'm not following the rules perfectly, but in my eyes, the purpose of these types of challenges are to get people motivated and out doing stuff.  To go from struggling with consistently to working out 7 times in the last 10 days is HUGE for me.  It's like people that try to do crazy diets where they cut out everything.  Those diets rarely work like they're supposed to because people end up binging.  I'm trying to build good habits for my future and although I'm not perfect at it yet, I'm getting there.

Yesterday I was supposed to get 5 miles done according to my training plan.  Since I didn't do it, I knew it had to happen today.  I thought about it all day and was dreading it.  I really didn't want to and was throwing an internal temper tantrum about it.  All I wanted to do was come home, have pasta (for some reason I was craving it) and watch what's on my tivo and I was going to do that.  However, when I got home, I had a special package in the mail...the calendar I ordered from my running club!  It was just what I needed.  One of our members put a calendar together with pictures from all of us at races all year.  Once I got that I knew I had to get out there and run.  I'm so glad I did.  I had to take a 2 minute walk break around 2.5 miles, but the rest of the 5 I ran/jogged.  It feels like running to me, but my pace is so dang slow I'm sure it's a jog to others.  Anyway, below is the stats from my run.  I titled it "I beat the mind today" because not only did I get out and run despite really dreading in, but during the run I self-talked myself into continuing to run even though it felt hard and I wanted to walk.  By the way, I'm loving my new Garmin watch!
